Media: Balotelli before national team comeback after four years

Rome (SID) According to media reports, striker Mario Balotelli is about to return to the Italian national football team after four years of absence. Interim coach Luigi Di Biagio wants to call the 27-year-old from French first division club OGC Nice back into the squad. This is reported by the Roman daily newspaper “La Repubblica”. The first training camp under Di Biagio starts on Monday in Coverciano near Florence. Balotelli, who scored twice against Germany in the 2012 European Championship semi-finals, is scheduled to make his comeback in the national jersey on March 23 in Italy's friendly against Argentina in Manchester. Balotelli, who was considered a difficult character, was left out of the national squad after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and has not been taken into account since then. Italy missed the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In Nice, Balotelli has scored 13 goals for the ninth-placed Ligue 1 team so far this season.
