Media: England coach Southgate wants to nominate Bayer ace Bailey for the World Cup

London (SID) Bundesliga shooting star Leon Bailey (20) from Bayer Leverkusen is not only arousing the desires of other clubs, but apparently also the English national football team. As the British newspaper Mirror reports, the English team manager Gareth Southgate wants to win the 20-year-old Jamaican for the football motherland and use him for the Three Lions at the World Cup in Russia (June 14th to July 15th). Theoretically, this is conceivable, as two of Bailey's grandparents supposedly have British passports. The lightning-fast offensive player, who scored his ninth Bundesliga goal of the season in the Werkself's 2-1 win at Hamburger SV on Saturday, should also have the opportunity to play for Belgium and Malta in addition to Jamaica. England, the 1966 world champions, is of course an attractive destination for the Bayer ace. Bailey has so far made one appearance in Jamaica's U23 team. The kicker from the Caribbean cost around twelve million euros when he moved from KRC Genk to Leverkusen in January 2017, but he has now significantly increased his market value.
