MY DREAM TEAM: Martin Ritsch presents his top 11

Patrick Pietersteiner (Ex St. Georgen – currently inactive): “Patzo” is peace personified. He is characterized by enormous responsiveness on the line and a good left foot. When he's in form, in my opinion he's one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

LEFT DEFENSE Prossliner Manuel (Brixen / Oberliga): The next left footer in my top 11. “Prosse” is a tough defender who doesn’t shy away from any duel. He also has a massive hammer on his left foot. A guarantee on the left side of defense.

INTERNAL DEFENSE Robert Niederkofler (Ahrntal / Oberliga): There are few players in the country with as much experience as “Bobbo”. He has been playing at a high level for many years and together with...

... Benni Althuber (St. Georgen / Oberliga) he would certainly make a perfect central defender duo. As a midfielder, it's a pleasure to play alongside a central defender like Althuber. I think there are few defenders with such a build-up game and such an overview as he has. He is also a team player who would give everything for his team both on and off the pitch.

RIGHT DEFENDER Luke Aichner (St. Georgen / Oberliga): Of course, my “bro” Lukas “Pfeifer” Aichner cannot be missing from my top 11. He has developed extremely in recent years and, in my opinion, is one of the best full-backs in the country with his enormous willingness to run. It's not for nothing that he played through all the games at the Europeada 2016.

DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD Michael Siller (Freienfeld / State League): In defensive midfield I would rely on Michael Siller. He can be used in several positions and impresses with his calmness on the ball and his game intelligence. As a teammate at SSV Brixen, I was able to learn a lot from him (including in the third half) :-). Manuel Sullmann (Player-coach Natz / national league): Next to Siller I would put Sullmann at number 6. Many players would like to have his magic right foot. He is a free kick specialist and also an outstanding playmaker. He now even works as a player-coach and who knows - maybe sooner or later I'll play for or with him :-).

LEFT WING Christian Rainer (FC Obermais – now inactive): The only player in my top 11 with whom I unfortunately only played one or two games (Europeada 2012). The former FCO figurehead was a model captain. Willingness to run, fighting spirit, never giving up - these are the qualities that made him so special. With his goal in the derby against Meran, he gave himself a worthy finish.

OFFENSIVE MIDFIELD Benno Harrasser (St. Georgen / Oberliga): In attacking midfield I would rely on my current teammate Benno Harrasser. Who knows where he would be now if he hadn't been plagued by injuries so often throughout his career. One of, if not the best technician I know. It's a pleasure to watch him.

RIGHT WING Thomas Ritsch (Natz / Landesliga – currently injured): I would put my brother's heart on the right side with the number 7 - even if his best years are probably over after two cruciate ligament tears. He was one of the fastest wingers I've ever seen and his crosses were a striker's dream.

CENTER FORWARD Matthias Bacher (Naturs / Oberliga): A thoroughbred striker like he is in a picture book. Extremely dangerous and ice cold in front of the goal. It's not for nothing that “Matthi” has been at the top of the top scorer lists for years. At the Europeada I was finally able to play in a team with him and who knows – maybe it will work out again in our future.

TRAINER Alfredo Sebastiani (Brixen / Oberliga): A football teacher, it's not for nothing that he worked at FC Südtirol or in England. I was lucky enough to play under him at FC Südtirol in my youth and I owe him a lot. An exceptional coach for the major league.
