MY DREAM TEAM: Peter Mair presents his top 11

“Magic Mair” would let his dream team take the field in a modified 4-3-3 system. To do this he would field the following players.

TOR

Luca Tenderini (currently at Virtus Bozen / Serie D) : He played with me at Sambonifacese in Serie D. In my opinion he has the right amount of self-confidence that a keeper needs. Otherwise it is also very complete.

DEFENSE

Armin Rungg (Partschins / State League) : What sets him apart? His consistency and ability to never make mistakes. That's why I would put him in the right full-back position...

...Daniel Holzner (Lana / national league) : … where he would be swapped with Daniel Holzner at halftime (laughs). “Holzi” is one of those players you can always rely on. He is a tireless worker, both offensively and defensively.

Benjamin Althuber (St. Georgen / Oberliga) : Would be in central defense for me. Uncompromising, ice cold, always good – what more could you want from a defender?

Martin Metz (currently not active) : Unfortunately he hasn't played for a year and a half; before that he was on duty with me in Naturns. As a striker you always want a defender like that as a teammate. He simply exudes a lot of security in defense and is also one of the best aerial players I know.

Roland Harrasser (St. Georgen / Oberliga) : He is the best right-footed player in the left-back position. Playing against him is unpleasant because he is a very intelligent player.

MIDFIELD Peter Mazoll (currently playing in Switzerland) : Unfortunately I only played with him for a year, but I was immediately aware that he was a real “Capitano”. A clearer in front of the defense who has a good eye and can also play the last pass.

Armin Mayr (Terlan / 1st Amateur League) : Solid, more solid, Armin Mayr. Safe on the ball, coupled with a great overview, he has to be in my top 11 – namely on the right half wing.

Thomas Veronese (Mestre / Series D) : Right next to that I would go for Veronese. He's a 100% professional - and not just because he's a top athlete and has a huge left foot. You can also learn a lot from him in terms of attitude.

ATTACK

Martin Saltuari (St. Martin / Oberliga) : I would let him act behind the storm duo. He has already played in the first Austrian league with Wacker Innsbruck. As a striker, having someone like that behind you is pure luxury. In particular, he can do the last pass better than few in this league.

Hansi Mair (Lana / national league) : Is one of those attackers who always see the goal. It becomes unpleasant for the opposing defenders, especially when he is in the penalty area and crosses are hit into the middle. Another plus point: runs a lot and works for the team.

Matthias Bacher (Naturs / Oberliga) : A nimble striker who also has a strong goal instinct and is simply ice cold in front of the box. If he has a player like Saltuari behind him, he really blossoms and is difficult to keep.

TRAINER Massimo Bertinato (Merano / 1st Amateur League) : Always knows what he wants and demands the same from his players. And last but not least, he is also a clever tactician.
