Mestre at the door, Gliozzi on the note

Mestre is new to Serie C. Last year the Venetians won Serie D and were promoted to professional football. Things are going well this year too, as the 21 points show. This means that Mestre is tied with FC Südtirol in 10th place. The two teams are similar in other respects too. The defensive lines are good, but there is a problem at the front. While Mestre has scored 16 goals in the 18 games so far, FC Südtirol has 17 goals.

Will Gliozzi return to FC Südtirol?

Ettore Gliozzi could solve the storm problem at FC Südtirol. The Cesena striker hardly gets a chance in Serie B. Gliozzi has not managed a goal in eight games so far. A farewell to Cesena is almost certain, but it won't be easy for FC Südtirol. The 22-year-old actually wants to stay in Serie B. If he doesn't find a club there where his chances of playing are better than in Cesena, the FCS will strike. “Gliozzi is an issue for us. If he leaves Serie B, he will come to us. He said that very clearly,” said FC Südtirol managing director Dietmar Pfeifer. In two years with the White-Reds, Gliozzi scored 69 times in 25 games.

The fact that FCS sports director Aladino Valoti is looking for an attacker is nothing new. With Rocco Constantino there is only one central striker in the squad. At least the 27-year-old Italo-Swiss player scores reliably, or at least more often than one would have expected him to in the summer. Even if you are happy with Constantino, reinforcements will be needed in the winter. Manuel De Luca, who will leave Torino on loan in the winter, is not an issue. Pfeifer: “We worked on him in the summer. But not since then.”

Berardocco back in the starting line-up, Erlic on the bench

After his two-game ban, Luca Berardocco will again pull the strings in the FCS midfield against Mestre. Luca Bertoni has to go to the bench, as does Martin Erlic. The young Croatian has been performing well recently, but was substituted at half-time against Ravenna a week ago. Marco Baldan came into play for him and will also be in the starting line-up tomorrow.
