Ban lifted: Almost 3500 women are allowed to attend football matches in Tehran

Around 3500 spectators are expected at the Azadi Stadium, which has space for 100.000 spectators. The first contingent of tickets was sold out in less than an hour, and additional seats that had been released were also sold out in a short time, state media reported. Discrimination against women is prohibited according to the statutes of the world association. FIFA had threatened to exclude the national team from all competitions as a sanction - then the Iranian Football Association FFIRI gave in.
