The “Mortiners” started advanced training in mid-July. The commands were no longer given by Roberto Cortese from the sidelines, who more or less surprisingly switched to Virtus Don Bosco, but by Martin Saltuari. The offensive player will act as player-coach in the 2014/15 season - assisted by Joachim Schmuck and goalkeeping coach Gabriel Hofer.

There have also been some changes at the traditional Passeir club when it comes to the squad. Due to the departures of Valentin Brugger, Theo Pamer, Benjamin Fontana and Hansi Pixner, the sporting management around Bernhard Tschöll had to find equivalent replacements. That's why the two twins Luca and Marco Baggio were guided from Neugries to the Passeier Valley. In addition, defensive specialist Alex Hofer returned to the team from a long-term cruciate ligament injury, while several “boys” from the youth department were promoted to the first team.

The Passeirers' primary goal is to stay in the league, which they don't want to achieve until the last match day this year. “We want to have nothing more to do with the relegation battle as soon as possible. The rest is all an addition. As a coach, my goal is to make every single player better – and to get the most out of this team,” said player-coach Martin Saltuari.

Whether he succeeds will be seen from Sunday, August 31st - that's when the 2014/15 season starts in the top league.
