Oberliga: The Pusterer Derby puts everything in the shade

“The anticipation is huge,” say Ahrntal coach Jürgen Großgasteiger and St. Georgen’s captain Roland Harrasser. In doing so, the two aptly describe what most players, officials and fans of both traditional Puster clubs have been feeling for days. No wonder: the sporting (healthy) rivalry between the two clubs is great. Nothing tastes sweeter than success in a direct duel with the other club.

And it promises to be a real top game, even though leader St. Georgen is already ten lengths ahead of Ahrntal in the table. But: Ahrntal is a power at home. In five games in front of their own crowd, the players from “Toule” have never left the pitch as losers.

“Of course we want to defend this series, even though it is secondary. It will be difficult, St. Georgen is certainly the favorite,” explains Großgasteiger, who will have to do without the suspended Manuel Pipperger. “Aichner and Pittschieler are injured, I hope that we can at least get Pittschieler fit for Sunday. Maurer, Voppichler, Zimmerhofer and Kirchler are also injured. Despite the many failures, we will give our all and go into the match highly motivated. The opponent alone is a huge motivational boost for my boys,” continued Ahrntal’s coach.

St. Georgen comes to the Ahrntal with the self-confidence of ten games in a row without defeat. After eight wins in a row, the “Jergina” engine sputtered a bit recently with the two draws against Levico and Bozner FC. “We prepared well for the derby. Unfortunately we have to do without the suspended Martin Ritsch. We are still undefeated abroad and want to defend this series. We are extremely motivated – but everyone is before this derby,” says Harrasser.

Tramin welcomes Salurn

In addition to the “North Summit”, the 12th round will also see a duel between the two southernmost South Tyrolean clubs: Tramin hosts Salurn. On paper, an easy task for the Pomella squad, who have never lost at home in five games. Because the penultimate Salurn hasn't picked up a single point abroad this year and has always left the place as a loser. Nevertheless, Greif & Co. will not make the mistake of underestimating Pellegrini's protégés.

The third South Tyrolean derby will take place in Brixen on Saturday, November 8th from 17 p.m. Coach Wachtler welcomes Eppan with his team. The two teams, which have each collected 14 points so far, are neighbors in the table: Brixen is in tenth place, Eppan immediately behind in eleventh place. A “threesome” would give the winner a lot of breathing room in the relegation battle.

There are also home games on Sunday for Bozner FC (against Comano) and St. Martin (against bottom team Fersina), while Virtus Don Bosco (in Lavis) and St. Pauls (in Ala near Alense) will be in action. All games kick off at 14.30:XNUMX p.m.
