Oberliga or Serie D: Where does Levico Terme's path lead?

The formalities have been clarified a long time ago. On Thursday, July 6th, club president Sandro Beretta and general director Marco Melone submitted the application for promotion (“domanda di ripescaggio”) to Serie D in Rome. At the same time, the long wait has also begun. “I think we will know where we are playing at the end of July,” explains Melone in an interview SportNews .

A total of 19 teams applied for free places in Serie D. It is still unclear how many teams will ultimately be promoted. “Last year, eleven teams were brought back into Serie D through association channels,” says Melone. “So far there are six places available in the fourth highest league, I think there will be a few more to come – that’s why I think we have a good chance.”

Melone is optimistic above all because of one fact: “In my opinion, we are in tenth place in the 'special' ranking that is used to allocate the free places. I think that would be enough, as I expect ten or eleven teams to be brought into Serie D." The list, in which the sporting merits ("meriti sportivi") are particularly important, will be officially published these days. The number of free places, however, will not be made public until the end of July.

Manfioletti, Bertoldi & Co.: A team for Serie D Levico, as can also be seen from the transfer activities, is planning to participate in Series D. In addition to the commitment of probably the best striker in the region, Fabio Bertoldi, well-known players appear on the Trentino shopping list. Only recently, keeper Gabriele Carletti was signed by Hellas Verona's Primavera team, and Manuel Brusco, one of the region's greatest talents, will also be playing in the ranks of the yellow-blue team. The new signings Andrea Pregnolato and Davide Xamin have played consistently in Serie D in recent years, while ex-Trento player Lorenzo Acka also has experience in the fourth highest league. By the way, the coach is none other than Stefano Manfioletti, who won the top league with AC Trento this year.

If Levico is promoted to Serie D, then Benacense would move up to the top league as the winner of the playoff for the second-placed team (6-2 win against Partschins at the beginning of June). However, if the yellow-blues remain in the highest regional amateur league, then the role of favorites for the 2017/18 league season would probably be taken early on.
