Oberliga season 2012-13: This is FC Eppan

The Überetscher club, which was founded in 1956, finished the last league championship in eighth place under the leadership of new head coach Christian Scherer. And as in previous years, the club will largely remain true to its line this year: “We rely on our local players. This concept has worked for us over the past few years and we will continue to stick to it in the future,” explains President Michael Walcher.

In the 2007/2008 season, FC Eppan made it into the top league, where the Überetscher have been playing ever since and have been pursuing the goal of staying in the league every year: “There is no other goal,” said Walcher.

Additions The squad will primarily include players from the junior ranks: four midfielders, Marco Poda, Andrea Cirillo, Omar Maoual and Fabio Spadina, will be introduced to the first team in the coming season. In addition, Thomas Zozinin's Oberliga team was promoted.

departures Goalscorer Ivano Ferrari, who was signed last year as a replacement for the long-term injured Alex Feltrin, has to leave the club. Club president Michael Walcher explains the decision as follows: “It was not an easy decision, as Ivano was able to fully meet expectations. Nevertheless, we only wanted to confirm one striker from away because we still want to give our own youngsters the chance to make it to the top league. So we decided on Alex Feltrin, who is now fit to play again after his serious knee injury.” Simone Tibolla and Andrea Maccari, who are moving to Gargazon, also say goodbye. Andrea Bragagna will also no longer be on the pitch with FC Eppan next season, although where he will end up is not yet clear at this point.

Start of training and test matches The Eppan team started training on July 16th and is preparing for the upcoming league season with various test games. A friendly match against Weinstraße Süd is planned for August 3rd and the next day FC Eppan will take part in the Seiser Alpen Cup, where they will play against Steinegg and Schlern. Before Christan Scherer's boys play the first round of the Italian Cup on August 19th (opponents: St. Pauls and Bozner Boden), there is a friendly against Neugries on August 8th.
