Oberliga season 2013-14: This is Bozner FC

One game day before the end of the 2012/13 season, the traditional Bolzano club achieved historic promotion to the top division at regional level. The “Oranje” achieved this feat on their 50th anniversary, which the club was able to celebrate last season. Now coach Flavio Toccoli's boys are ready for a new adventure in the highest regional league in South Tyrol, which they will tackle with the goal of staying in the league.

The Talferstädter are taking part in the Oberliga for the first time this year and have secured well-known entry in every area. The “showpiece” of Bozner FC is certainly Hannes Fiwickeler, who comes from league rivals St. Martin. However, three important players were confirmed: goalkeeper Kaneider, defender Ceravolo and Bertoldi.

“We still have to get used to the fact that from now on we are the first team in Bolzano. But we will do everything we can to live up to our reputation and will work little by little to earn a permanent place in the top league. Our goal is to stay in the league. It will be difficult because nothing is given to you at this level. A lot will depend on how our boys cope with the championship,” explains Andreas Canal, the first team’s sporting director. Flavio Toccoli continues to be the coach. “Lupo is a unique coach who fully embodies our club,” continued Canal.

Start of training and test matches

Coach Toccoli's team, who is supported by assistant coach Lorenzo Vason, began preparing for the season on July 24th. The club from the state capital did not lose a single one of the four test matches it played (three wins and a draw against Naturns). At the start of the championship on September 1st, the Orange-Blacks will face league newcomers Calciochiese.
