TERAMO – The junior selection of the Autonomous Regional Committee of Bolzano clearly defeated the selection from Trento 3-0 and placed in second place, behind Abruzzo. Since only the three best runners-up in the table qualified for the quarter-finals, after the end of the game we had to wait and see how the games in the other groups ended. In the end it was enough for coach Harald Kiem to be selected. In addition to the selection from Bolzano, Abruzzo, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Umbria, Marche, Emilia Romagna, Liguria and Piedmont/Aosta Valley also qualified. The game will be paused tomorrow before the first knockout game continues against group opponents Abruzzo. The game against Trent begins with a shot from Stark, which Agosti was able to defuse. In the 21st minute, coach Harald Kiem's juniors took the lead. A pass reached Koni, who brought the ball under control and scored with a powerful shot. Just a few minutes later, the ball found its way into the Trent team's net again, but Davi's goal was not recognized due to an alleged offside position. Before half-time, Stark hit the ball against the crossbar, from where the ball bounced back into the field, but found no taker. In the second half, Trent was dangerous with Miorelli and a free kick from Nicolini. The South Tyrol selection responded with a double chance. First Koni failed because of Demarco. The rebounding ball came to Aichhorner, whose shot was blocked again. Ultimately the ball landed at Leitner, who put the ball in the goal but was offside. The 2-0 came in the 63rd minute, after a beautifully presented attack that Davi refined. Only four more minutes passed and Bozen's junior team increased the lead to 3-0. Bacher chased the ball onto the crossbar after a corner, and this time Trojer used the rebound to score a goal. Even in the final phase, the South Tyrolean junior team remained more dangerous. With a lot of effort and heart, the quarter-finals were reached, despite the last-minute defeat against Abruzzo. Coach Harald Kiem was very satisfied after the game: “I am very happy about qualifying for the quarter-finals, especially for the team and the support team. All players have fully completed their tasks. We should have decided the game against the Trent team in the first half, but we were a little too inefficient.

In the second half we were much more concrete and determined in front of the goal. The appetite often only comes when you eat and that's how we'll approach the next game. If we go into the game with the right attitude, we can survive in the quarter-finals. Of course, the 0-1 defeat against Abruzzo in stoppage time was bitter, but today Abruzzo's 2-2 equalizer against Sicily in the 96th minute opened the door for us to the quarter-finals. Reaching the quarter-finals with the juniors is an important success for domestic football because it shows us that we are on the right path. “Success also belongs to the local football clubs, which do excellent youth work.”

GIULIANOVA – On the “Ruben Fadini” grass pitch in Giulianova, the women’s team from South Tyrol lost the derby against Trento. As a result, they were unable to defend their lead in the table and slipped to second place in the table, level on points with Trent. The selection from Trento qualified for the quarter-finals because they won the direct duel against Bolzano. In addition to group winners Sicily and Trento, Veneto, Tuscany, Liguria, Piedmont, Campania and Lombardy also qualified for the quarter-finals. The decisive factor in the derby against Trent was a goal from the 5th minute, for which Betta was responsible. The selection from Bolzano started the game well and had the first opportunity with Battaglioli. The Trent team, on the other hand, were more callous and took the lead practically on the counterattack after a pass from Slomic and a goal from Betta. The South Tyroleans tried to digest the early goal they conceded. Coach Fabio Pelanda also made three early changes. Battagliolo tried a long-range shot in the first half, but the ball flew clear over the goal.

In the second half, coach Pelanda's selection pushed for the equalizer. Erlacher chased the ball over the goal. Mair forced Niosi into a brilliant save in the Trent goal. But the opposition also became dangerous with Baroldi, Chemoti and Carabelli. Towards the end of the game, Erlacher tried with the crowbar, but her shot also went wide of the goal. Even an opportunity for Messner did not find its way into the opposing goal. Platzgummer had the last chance, but this didn't change the result of the game.

There was speculation that this afternoon between the junior team and the women's team only one would make it to the quarter-finals. But it was a surprise that it was the juniors who continued to hold the South Tyrolean flags high and not the women.
