Regional tournament: What’s in it for the South Tyroleans?

Last year, the women in particular were able to impress. For them it wasn't over until the final against Tuscany. You can't expect that much from the South Tyroleans this year. The team is very young and needs to be built up for the next few years. Coach Fabio Pelanda (he used to work for the Brixen women) can still rely on some strong players. Elisa Battaglioli (CF Südtirol), Verena Erlacher (the Obermaiserin is ailing) and Nadia Gerstgrasser (Red Lions Tarsch) are certainly among the strongest players at the regional tournament. By the way: Debora Kuenrath is the older sister of Bayern legionnaire and U19 national player Melanie Kuenrath nominated.

Juniors with concentrated major league power Only senior and regional league players born in 1999 and 2000 are part of the South Tyrolean junior team. However, the national league teams (only four players) are clearly outnumbered. Otherwise, coach Harald Kiem can rely on a lot of league power. With Indrit Koni (Virtus Bozen), Benjamin Zulic (St. Georgen) and Bozner FC defender Julian Trojer, there are some strong players in the squad. All in all, it will be difficult for the juniors to survive the preliminary round. Can the A-Youth and B-Youth surprise? A team with potential is the A-Youth (born in 2001). The Kalterer coach Manuel Obrist can rely on many players who have already gained experience in the fighting teams. Noah Gietl (Gsies), Maximilian Von Wenzl and Lukas Schwienbacher (Ulten) are regularly used in the 1st amateur league. In addition, the A-youth players come not only from upper and regional league teams, but also from lower-class clubs such as Oberau Juventus Club or Val Gardena.

The situation is similar in the B youth, where players from twelve different clubs are there. Selection coach Wolfgang Crepaz and his boys have the goal of qualifying for the next round. It won't be easy, because it was usually over for the South Tyrolean selection after the preliminary round.
