In the game against Uttenheim, the goalie from Dietenheim/Aufhofen faced an endurance test in the truest sense of the word after 20 minutes. Long ball from the opponent, a striker who ran unchecked towards the ball and Messner, who sprinted out of his box, took the ball out of the danger zone and then crashed into the opponent.

An unpleasant scene in which the young keeper broke his jaw - all those with weak nerves please ignore - and after which 99 percent of all footballers would have been replaced. But Messner once again demonstrated the toughness of the Puster boys, picked himself up again after a short treatment, helped his Dietenheimers to a 70-2 victory with one or two saves in the remaining 1 minutes of the game and only then set off Innsbruck, where he had the damaged mouth surgically straightened again.
