And yet these three footballers have one thing in common: They all scored three goals in a game faster than Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders can perform “Cheri Cheri Lady” together, i.e. under three minutes. The Scot Tommy Ross is immortalized in the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest hat-trick scorer, hitting the bull's eye three times in just 28 seconds on November 1964, 90 (original sound when asked how it happened so quickly: “Back then there was "No hugs or kisses after the goal - you just ran back and if you were lucky you got a slap on the back of the head from the captain." The Senegalese Sadio Manè has held the record for the fastest Premier League hat-trick since 2015, for which he needed 2:56 minutes. And Bernd Volgger from St. Lorenzen? Yes, we dare to say that since Sunday he has been able to claim the record for the fastest hat-trick in South Tyrolean football history.

For a long time, striker Volgger was as unlucky in his St. Lorenzener's game against Wipptal with the leather on his feet as an unshaven hipster with trainer pants and flip flops in front of the posh club - in other words: tried what he could, but just couldn't get it in. Goalkeeper, an opponent or your own inability - something always prevented the attacker from scoring. But then the final phase began and total madness began. 76th minute, a free kick from the edge of the penalty area, a slightly deflected shot and goal number one. 77th minute, a solo, a dry finish into the near corner and goal number two. 78th minute, a flat pass in the middle, a shot - and then it was perfect, Bernd Volgger's record-breaking hat trick.

Whether the attacker fell below Manè's 2:56 limit or whether he needed a few seconds longer than three minutes to score his three goals - that is not entirely clear due to the limited technical resources in Italy's lowest amateur league. But one thing is certain: Only Alan Harper strikes as quickly as Volgger at a free buffet, and only the diamond ring on Carmen Geiss's right hand shines as flawlessly as his hat trick - and such historic scenes took place in the 3rd amateur league hasn't been off for a long time. Also because the Pusterers won 6-1 in the end and Volgger did the preparatory work for two more goals. Yes, the man was just like the typically annoying 2-meter box in front of us at the ACDC concert on Saturday: outstanding.
