The seasons will run into June and probably July or even August. This raises contractual questions. The world association is struggling for solutions. Internationally, it is customary for player contracts to expire on June 30th. As the media quoted from an internal FIFA working paper on Thursday, the aim is “to extend the expiry of contracts until the new end date of the season”. The loan contracts in particular are said to be a problem. There should be rules under association law that cannot be easily undermined. In this document from the FIFA working group, in addition to the flexible end of the contract depending on the end of the season of the respective national championship, the summer transfer window is also examined. There is a risk that national leagues will play or restart for different lengths of time. The professionals, as well as the clubs, should be given more planning leeway - and distortion of competition should be avoided. This is what the news agency quoted Reuters from the paper: “In the event of overlapping seasons and/or entry deadlines, and unless all parties agree otherwise, priority should be given to the former club to complete its season with its original squad to ensure the integrity of a national championship .” What happens to players who have already signed with a new club? This also raises the question of the extent to which free transfer players who have already signed for a new club will still be allowed to play for their old one in the summer. There is a possibility that a professional should already be with his new employer in July. However, player agent and lawyer Max Hagmayr from Austria argues that in such a case the current contract, according to which the player in question is tied to his club until the end of the season, becomes effective. This is different if a player has already been transferred. In this case, according to current information, the future club could insist on the player changing colors before the end of the championship. However, Hagmayr emphasizes that he would not be eligible to play in the current season. If the ex-professional has his way, things shouldn't get that far in terms of solidarity between the clubs: "I'm assuming that an agreement will be reached." The best-known professionals whose contracts expire on June 30, 2020 include: Edison Cavani, Thomas Meunier (both PSG), Dries Mertens, José Callejón (both Napoli), Mario Götze (BVB), Jan Vertonghen (Spurs), Willian ( Chelsea), Giacomo Bonaventura (Milan).
