Sensation! Kiens wins Bruneck city tournament

The last day of the tournament opened at 10 a.m. with the game between Dietenheim and Natz. Dominik Gasser scored the winning goal for Natz in the 37th minute. Reischach then shot their opponents St. Georgen Junior away 6-0. Shortly after midday, tournament favorite Bruneck met Kiens, after regular time the score was 1-1. Bruneck lost 4:5 in the penalty shootout, meaning Kiens booked their ticket to the final. In the second big game of the intermediate round, Stegen won against Serie D newcomer St. Georgen 2-1, Laurin Aichner scored the winning goal for regional league team Stegen in the 60th minute.

In the game for 7th place, Dietenheim beat St. Georgen Junior 1-0, the game for 5th place between Reischach and Natz ended 2-0. In the derby Bruneck – St.Georgen for third place, the decision was only made on penalties, with Bruneck prevailing 3:6.

The final also turned into a penalty thriller: after regular time the score was 0-0 between Kiens and Stegen. In the penalty shootout, the club from the 1st amateur league surprisingly won 8:7 against the state league club.

Leo Brugger and Philipp Bachlechner won the top scorer ranking with four goals each.
