“Siegheilson” jersey: Police are looking for a Cottbus fan

The picture of a fan of third division soccer team Energie Cottbus wearing a jersey with the number 66 and the name "Siegheilson" in the DFB Cup game against SC Freiburg in August caused a huge stir on the Internet.

The criminal police had started an investigation into the use of license plates with unconstitutional symbols, but the perpetrator has not yet been identified. The Cottbus district court has therefore now ordered the publication of the accused's recordings.

The Energie Cottbus association sent a link to the police investigation via Twitter with a photo of the accused. “There is no place for Nazis at FC Energie! We are taking the incident seriously and are supporting the Brandenburg police in the public search,” the club wrote.

The people of Lusatia have often had problems with right-wing supporters in the past. During the promotion to the 3rd league at the end of May, for example, a few masked people in Ku Klux Klan masks and a banner with the inscription “Rise of Evil” posed in the city. The club had also vehemently distanced itself from this.

A public search is underway for a supporter of Energie Cottbus: The man attended a game of his team wearing a “Siegheilson” jersey. The photo made the rounds on the internet and the police are now investigating.
