Simon Greif: “Tramin’s dream start is thanks to Pomella”

SportNews: Mr. Greif, after two wins in as many games, your team is laughing from the top of the table. What happened in Tramin?

Simon Greif: You can see once again how close successes and defeats are in football. Often it's just the little things that decide whether you celebrate a victory or not. Our success is certainly largely due to our coach Hugo Pomella, who does a great job together with assistant coach Manuel Obrist. But you also have to say very clearly that only two games have been played.

Two games in which Tramin also made a good impression in terms of play, as observers report. That's correct. We created a lot of chances to score in these two games. We scored two penalty goals in the first game, but in St. Martin last Sunday all three goals came from one action.

So Tramin, the club of fighters and rascals, has now also gained in playing strength? I think so. This is what sets our coach Pomella apart; he bases every training session on this. Just hit balls away? He doesn't have it anymore. His playing philosophy is to have as much ball possession as possible. He demands that we switch quickly. The fight, the commitment, these have always been our showcase characteristics and that's why we certainly managed to stay in the league last year. But in the top league there is not enough fighting. It also needs quality.

What else does Coach Pomella do differently than his predecessors? The training sessions are much shorter and more intense. This probably also has something to do with the fact that Pomella can lead the training together with our assistant coach Obrist. Otherwise, as already mentioned before, we mainly do exercises in which we train ball possession and quick transitions. So everything is subordinated to his playing philosophy.

Aren't you afraid that success will go to some players' heads? No, I'm not afraid of that. It is important that we keep our feet on the ground and continue to train diligently. From nothing, comes nothing. I'm sure our boys won't get arrogant. We ensure this among ourselves, but the trainer is also aware of this danger and is watching everything closely. And besides, things are so tight in the top league. You can quickly lose three games in a row if you don't always give 100 percent.

On Sunday Mori will be a guest in Tramin. Three points are mandatory, right?

Before the start of the season, we set ourselves the goal of celebrating as many wins as possible at home and becoming a power again. The game on Sunday is very important. One point would be fine, but we're in such a good mood at the moment that we can do more.
