Pigeon cat Achilles becomes Russian World Cup oracle

St. Petersburg (SID) Octopus Paul is getting a Russian successor: the deaf, white cat Achilles will be the "official" oracle of the 2018 World Cup. Achilles, one of around 50 cats that live in the famous Hermitage palace complex in St. Petersburg, is supposed to be at the finals in Russia correctly predict the outcome of the games. “We will hold our own press conference and present Achilles with a fan card,” Mary Chaltunen, press spokeswoman for the Cats, told the R-Sport news agency. The animals living in the Hermitage are a sight to see; according to legend, the first tomcat was personally brought by Peter the Great. Achilles recommended himself for the job at the 2017 Confederations Cup when he predicted Russia's win against New Zealand. To do this, the cat had to choose between two bowls of food, each with a team flag on it. Achilles' role model is the octopus Paul from Oberhausen, who became famous as the "octopus oracle" at the 2010 World Cup. Paul had predicted the correct winner for all seven games with German participation as well as the final. Paul had to choose between two boxes in his aquarium, each of which had a flag hidden in it.
