Tim Cup: Goal spectacle in Ancona – but FC Südtirol loses

Coach Viali sent his team onto the field in a 4-3-3 system. In goal, Marcone was given preference over Coser, in defense Viali relied on the central defender duo Di Nunzio-Bassoli, while Fabian Tait plowed the right and Daniele Sarzi the left defensive side. Obodo acted as a playmaker in front of the defense, the half wing positions were taken by Cia and Furlan, while the attack trio was formed by Torregrossa, Tulli and Gliozzi. Hannes Fink and Gabriel Brugger initially had to sit on the bench. In the first few minutes, FC Südtirol stepped on the accelerator, which is why Ancona initially retreated, but then snapped up coldly: After a cross from De Silvestro, Bassoli was too impetuous in the penalty area and brought down Cognigni, who took the penalty himself to make it 1: 0 converted (20th). The deficit shocked FC Südtirol, who continued to have greater ball possession values, but seemed too lacking in ideas going forward. Nevertheless, the White-Reds came very close to equalizing in the 23rd minute when Tulli's volley was blocked by Gliozzi just a few meters from the opponent's goal. But postponement is not lifted - and so the FCS equalized before the break through Bassoli, who nodded in after a Cia free kick.

Lively target shooting in the second half After the break, both teams got rid of any obstacles. First, Gliozzi gave South Tyrol the lead with a shot on the move (48'), then the home team equalized the result within eight minutes with a penalty from Cognigni (Marcone had previously parried De Silvestro's penalty, which Sarzi caused) and a goal from Forgacs on the head before substitute Hannes Fink immediately made it 3-3 with a wonderful volley. As a result, both teams continued to attack, with Ancona ultimately coming out on top: the outstanding Cognigni hit a long ball with a wonderful left-foot shot straight into the goal, putting together his personal hat-trick and securing the final score of 4-3. The FCS no longer had the strength to react - also because the White-Reds were outnumbered for over half an hour after Obodo was excluded (57th).

FC Südtirol certainly imagined the start of the new season differently. On Sunday evening, the White-Reds were defeated 3-4 away in the cup game against Ancona and were therefore eliminated.
