PSG: Neymar undergoes surgery and will be out against Real Madrid

Paris (SID) Soccer star Neymar from Paris St. Germain needs an operation on his damaged foot and will therefore definitely be out of the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Real Madrid in a week. His club announced on its homepage on Wednesday evening: "In agreement with the player, it has been decided that Neymar will undergo an operation in Brazil at the end of the week. The procedure will be carried out by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar." Neymar's father had previously told ESPN Brasil that the offensive player would be out for "six to eight weeks": "At PSG they know that they cannot rely on Neymar for the coming games." PSG coach Unai Emery had hoped until the end and didn't want to rule out the possibility of his 222 million euro man playing against Madrid: "We'll see how it develops in the next few days." Paris has to make up for a 1-3 defeat from the first leg in the second leg against Real. Neymar suffered a sprain in his right ankle and a hairline fracture in his outer metatarsal bone during Sunday's league game against Olympique Marseille (3-0).
