Virtus is promoted to the Oberliga, Obermais is knocked out on penalties

The people of Bolzano today were without Mehovic, Mariz and Umer, while Obermais was able to compete with the best line-up. Around 1100 spectators, many of them from Merano, didn't want to miss this deciding game in the Drusus Stadium in Bolzano. Both teams looked nervous in the first half hour, Virtus midfielder Santachiara found the best opportunity with a free kick from around 25 m. Obermais surprisingly took the lead in the 31st minute. Free kick from Ioris, Torcasio released it with his fists, but right at Michael Höller, who didn't need to be asked twice and scored to make it 1-0. Virtus responded immediately and almost equalized in the 42nd minute. Santachiara corner, Verdini got the ball, his first shot was deflected, Ioris headed the second into the post. After the first half, the Merano team remained in a narrow 1-0 lead.

Amofah equalizes

At the beginning of the second half, Obermais was secure in its own defense. Virtus coach Ceron took Sansoni off the field in the 55th minute for the slightly injured Mario Pasquali, who was supposed to provide more pressure up front with Perri. The change had an effect. In the 57th minute, Wieser fended off a hammer shot from Tadè, and a minute later Virtus equalized: Willy Amofoah, who was with Obermais last year, directed a precise free kick from Santachiara into the Merano goal to make it 1-1. This hit inspired Virtus. In the 77th minute, Wieser had to stretch to fend off a dangerous diagonal shot from Perri. However, no more goals were scored in regular time and so the match went into extra time.

Obermais awards two match balls

This started promisingly for Virtus. However, neither Kushe nor Pasquali were able to direct a cross from Perri into the opponent's goal. In the 111th minute, Ennemoser tried from 30 meters but only hit the top of the crossbar. Two minutes later, Klotznmer had the winning shot on his feet, but Torcasio parried his shot away with a brilliant save. So the penalties had to decide promotion to the top league.

The Bolzano goalkeeper was then named the superstar of the evening. First Ioris and Franzoso scored from the penalty spot, then Torcasio saved Lukas Pircher's shot. Kushe gave Virtus the lead, Torcasio also defended on Ennemoser. Pasquali also scored for Virtus and then Torcasio saved Klotzner's third penalty to make the final score 4-2. Virtus Don Bosco is returning to the top league after six years.
