How a Kiener became a cup hero: Cut and ball to the head

The home team and Kiens faced each other in the second round of the 1st Amateur League State Cup on the artificial turf pitch in the Etschtal. In a hard-fought game, there were constant upsets until shortly before the end, for example in the first half when Kiens defender Martin Falkensteiner sustained a cut on his head in a collision with a Terlan player. However, the captain of Kiens, like the Terlan player, who also suffered a cut, bit his teeth, quickly received temporary medical treatment and was able to resume playing after a few minutes.

An action that should pay off. Six minutes before the end, the Kien captain marched into the opponent's penalty area when his team took a corner, finally saw the ball fluttering towards him, didn't hesitate for long and pushed it over the Terlan line with his damaged forehead for the game-winning 1-0 winning goal. Falkensteiner not only caused a big surprise (Terlan is the league leader in the A-circle of the 1st amateur league and was favored before the cup game), but also opened the door for the next round a big crack. We sum up: Cut to the head and yet a goal with the forehead - yes, Puster boys are still tough guys. And the cup continues to write special stories.
