Wieser, Straudi, Zuelli & Co.: Which South Tyrolean plays where?

Lorenzo Sgarbi, Napoli (Primavera)

In the summer of 2017, the young Bolzano striker Lorenzo Sgarbi moved from FC Südtirol to Naples . The 16-year-old plays there in Napoli's Primavera team. Sgarbi, who grew up at Virtus DB, was also used at U17 and in the UEFA Youth League (that is the Junior Champions League). Sgarbi is currently only on loan, but Napoli has an option to buy.

David Wieser, Inter (Under 16)

The Val Gardena native was the second South Tyrolean to make the leap into the talent pool of a Serie A club in the summer. The 15-year-old midfielder plays for Inter in the Under 16s.

Emanuele Zuelli, Chievo (Primavera/Under 17)

Working in youth for Bozen 96, Val Gardena and FC Südtirol, Zuelli moved to Verona in 2014. He has now joined the Primavera team at Chievo. early in January The 17-year-old midfielder made his debut for the team of ex-FCS coach Lorenzo D'Anna, previously he was a regular player in the under 17.

Andrea Isufaj, Chievo (Primavera)

Andrea Isufaj from Brixen is firmly tied to Chievo. The striker is currently playing in the Primavera team and is an absolute top performer there. Isufaj, who has Albanian roots, scored twelve times last year. The 19-year-old has scored three times for the blue and yellow so far this year. In his early days, Isufaj played for Vahrn and SSV Brixen, among others.

Nicholas Oberrauch, Parma (Primavera)

After stints at Latina and Hellas Verona, the Bolzano player moved to Parma in the summer. There, the 19-year-old left-footer plays in the Primavera team – and is a regular player. The defender is the son of Virtus boss Robert Oberrauch. Oberrauch grew up as a footballer in Rome, first at Romulea and then at AS Roma.

Fabian Menghin, FC Kufstein (3rd league)

After coming through the youth department of FC Südtirol, the full-back moved to Austria Klagenfurt in the summer of 2016. After an interlude at Wels, Menghin is now playing in Kufstein. The Bolzano team is seeded by the Tyrolean third division team, but is fighting against relegation. His contract runs until June 2018.

Jan Martin Vinatzer, FC Mendrisio (4th league)

Switzerland is also not a South Tyrolean-free zone. At Mendrisio, Jan Martin Vinatzer plays a native of Val Gardena. The 26-year-old, who previously played for Mantova, Savona and FC Südtirol, has been a Swiss national for five years. This year he is aiming for promotion with Mendrisio to the third league. If that doesn't work, the striker will return to South Tyrol.

Fabian & Simon Straudi, Werder Bremen (Under 17/Under 19)

In the summer of 2018, Fabian Straudi followed his brother, who was two years older, to Bremen. Both grew up at St. Georgen and played for FC Südtirol. Simon in particular is considered a huge talent and came back strongly after a long injury break in late autumn. He most recently took part in Werder Bremen II's winter training camp in Spain and made his debut for the second team in a friendly. Important for Straudi because he is playing for his future. The 19-year-old's contract expires in the summer.
