Where is South Tyrol's best striker headed?

Last summer, De Luca was on the market for a free transfer after Chievo Verona went bankrupt. Sampdoria took advantage of the opportunity and signed the South Tyrolean attacker. So far, the 23-year-old has not played a competitive game for the Genoa club. De Luca, who played for FC Südtirol and Inter in his youth, was loaned directly to Perugia last year. There he played the best season of his life and scored 10 goals in Serie B.

Last week, returnee De Luca was at the start of training for his parent club Sampdoria. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that the attacker will stay in Liguria. There are currently two major interested parties for him: Serie B club AC Pisa and Hamburger SV. The traditional club from the northern German metropolis of millions has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga for several years and is very interested in the South Tyrolean, especially since he also speaks German. The HSV interest HSV is looking for a tall striker. Internally, the former Bundesliga dinosaur has chosen De Luca for a few weeks now. According to those responsible, the 1,92 meter man would be exactly the right player for the promotion mission. He is believed to be able to represent Robert Glatzel or play alongside him.

The 28-year-old Glatzel scored 22 league goals for HSV in the previous season. In the summer, the 1,93 meter striker extended his contract with the Hanseatic League, even though promoted team Schalke 04 was after him. In order not to be too dependent on Glatzel, who mainly acted as the sole striker, in the new season, De Luca would be a suitable alternative for the HSV squad.

According to consistent media reports, there have already been talks between Sampdoria and HSV. While Sampdoria is said to be asking for a transfer fee of 2,5 million euros, the cash-strapped Hamburgers are more interested in a loan. In order to be able to sign De Luca permanently, HSV would have to rely on further transfer income. A quick agreement is currently not in sight. It remains to be seen whether De Luca will actually end up in Hamburg.
