Top of the week: Wierer, Oberhofer and Sanfilippo make history

The local biathlon women once again underlined that they are athletes with a world-class profile - and therefore can and want to have a say at the World Cup. As a reminder: At the first biathlon stage in Östersund, Dorothea Wierer from Niederrasen grabbed the gold and silver medals in the individual and pursuit, respectively, while Sanfilippo from Ridnaun achieved the greatest sense of achievement of her career with second place in the sprint.

2st place: Over and over again he: Patrick Pigneter put a big, fat stamp on the first World Cup weekend in natural track tobogganing. On Saturday, the Völser won the gold medal in the doubles together with Florian Clara, before he showed strong nerves in the singles the next day, despite several small setbacks in the intermediate rounds, and also took the lead in this discipline ( here click). In doing so, Pigneter sets the bar for the coming races at a height that is difficult for his competitors to reach. Also worth mentioning are the podium finishes of Evelin Lanthaler (2nd) and Greta Pinggera (3rd).

3st place: This time the bronze medal also goes to the luge area - even if the change from the natural track to the ice track follows. The duo took care of things in Park City, USA Oberstolz/Gruber for a top result par excellence: In the doubles sprint, the Meransener and the Lüsener carved the best time into the American ice track and thus secured the 16th World Cup victory of their careers ( here click). DominikFilehner also made people sit up and take notice with his second place.
