Jakob Weger from Merano is taking part in the World Cup

Jakob Weger once again demonstrated his skills in the second race of the season on the Dora Baltea in Ivrea (Piedmont), a few days before his 2th birthday, as he did at the season opener in Tacen/Slovenia, and showed that he can compete with Giovanni De Gennaro and Zeno Ivaldi is one of the three best slalom canoeists in Italy in kayak singles.

At the world ranking canoe slalom in Ivrea he was able to improve enormously in the final run after placing 5th in the second qualifying in the semi-finals. Jakob Weger finished in the final run with a running time of 2 seconds and 81,00 penalty seconds for touching the goal post with 2 seconds behind Giovanni De Gennaro (83,00/80,89 penalty seconds) from Bergamo and Zeno Ivaldi (0/82,15 penalty seconds). Verona achieved an excellent 2rd place.

In the open race, Valentin Luther performed best among the SCM paddlers in the kayak single sculls. The young SCM paddler took an excellent third place (91,92/2 penalty seconds) behind the winner Andrea Romeo (87,30/0) and Tommaso Fasoli (89,80/2 penalty seconds). His club colleagues Michael Luther (3/96,86 penalty seconds), Jakob Luther (4/96,91 penalty seconds) and Martin Unterthurner (6/106,10) finished in 0th, 10th and 12th place in the open kayak single sculls race.

At the 3rd qualification for the World Cup, Jakob Weger came 3rd today behind Giovanni De Gennaro and Zeno Ivaldi in the kayak single sculls. Jakob Weger finished the qualification for the World Cup in third place behind Giovanni De Gennaro and Zeno Ivaldi and the qualification for the U3 World Cup and U23 European Championships in first place. Jakob Weger qualified for the Canoe Slalom World Cup, the U23 World Cup in July in Bratislava (Slovakia) and the U1 European Championships in August in Hohenlimburg (Germany).

Valentin Luther also delivered an excellent performance today. The son of the SC Meran canoe section leader, Heinz Luther, today won the first qualification for the U1 World Championships and U18 European Championships in the canoe slalom ahead of Davide Ghisetti from Ivrea and Tomaso Fasoli from Milan.

The next race for the SC Meran canoe elite team is the 62nd edition of the international canoe slalom on May 20th and 21st on the Passer in Meran, for which the SCM canoeists will now be preparing intensively.

Jakob Weger from Merano is taking part in the World Cup

The long weekend saw, among other things, the qualifying runs for the Azzurri's World Cup squad for the upcoming season taking place in Ivrea. Jakob Weger was also called up for the 2017 World Cup in K1 by the coaching duo Daniele Molmenti and Ettore Ivaldi.
