1982: Italy vs Germany At the World Cup in Spain on July 11, 1982, Italy and Germany faced each other in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. The Germans beat the French on penalties in the semi-final, while the “Azzurri” beat Poland 2-0 thanks to two goals from Paolo Rossi.

Both teams played in a 4-3-3 formation in the final. After a balanced first half, in which left-back Antonio Cabrini missed a penalty, Paolo Rossi gave Italy the lead in the 57th minute. Afterwards, Germany had to play more offensively against the Italians, who were strong on the counterattack.

Italy dominated the game against the Germans, whose condition was weakened by the exhausting semi-final. Tardelli (69th) and Altobelli (81st) increased the score to 3-0. Paul Breitner's goal to make it 1:3 in the 83rd minute only served to cosmetic the result. He was the third player after the Brazilians Pelé and Vavá to score in two World Cup finals.

The outstanding player of the final was Bruno Conti. For many experts he was the best player of the tournament. Rossi won the title of top scorer with his sixth goal.

2010: Spain vs Netherlands At the World Cup in South Africa, Spain and the Netherlands faced each other in Johannesburg on July 11th.
