A lot has happened in the overall World Cup during the last stage in Moscow: Thomas Kammerlander from Austria has taken the lead in the men's race. He can put on the leader's jersey for the first time in his career in Slovenia after he scored the maximum points with two wins in Moscow and thus overtook series winner Patrick Pigneter (Völs). Kammerlander, whose points account currently has 355 points, is now in first place in the overall ranking ahead of Pigneter (330) and his third-placed teammate Alex Gruber (300).

Evelin Lanthaler (Platt) also showed a strong performance in Russia. Like Kammerlander, she won both the classic World Cup and the pursuit race in Moscow and thus scored 200 points. As a result, she moved past the Austrian Tina Unterberger in the overall World Cup, who was in second place with 340 points before the race in Slovenia. Third in the overall standings is Lanthaler's teammate Greta Pinggera. Like Unterberger, she landed on the podium twice in Moscow and now has 310 points. This means she is 370 points behind Lanthaler, who is 60 points.

The situation in the double competition is a lot tighter: The South Tyroleans Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara were able to keep their lead in the overall World Cup, but with 305 points they have a minimal gap of just five points to the second-placed Russians Pavel Porshnev/Ivan Lazarev (300), who won the World Cup race in Moscow. There is also a Russian pairing in third place: Aleksandr Egorov/Petr Popov (285 points) were able to reduce the gap to the pairings ahead of them in the overall ranking by winning the pursuit race and second place in the World Cup race in Russia.

Next weekend, from January 20th to 22nd, the fourth competition of the GRM Group World Cup in luge will take place on natural track. This time the teams are going to Železniki (SLO) - more precisely, to the Soriška Planina ski area at around 1.300 meters above sea level.
