First World Cup title goes to the Italian national team

The 18th World Championship in natural track tobogganing began with a victory for the Italian national team in Umhausen. The South Tyroleans Anton Blasbichler, Renate Gietl and the double Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara came out ahead of Austria (Gerald Kammerlander, Melanie Batkowski, Christian Schatz/Gerhard Mühlbacher) and Russia (Juri Talikh, Ekatharina Lavrentjeva, Pawel Porschnev/Ivan Lazarev). The second Italian team with Hannes Clara, Melanie Schwarz and the doubles Florian Breitenberger/David Mair took fifth place.
