Favorites set the tone in Deutschnofen

The 24th FIL World Championships in natural track tobogganing in Deutschnofen promise high excitement. The favorites confirmed the distribution of roles during training on Friday. In the men's single-seater, Michael Scheikl (Austria) set the best time in the first run in 54,50 seconds, followed by “Mister Deutschnofen” Alex Gruber, just 0,02 seconds behind. Defending champion Thomas Kammerlander (Austria) came in third – 0,02 seconds ahead of Patrick Pigneter, who won the World Cup dress rehearsal two weeks ago in Deutschnofen. In the second training run, Gruber (54,57 seconds) was ahead, ahead of Pigneter and Scheikl (+0,10 seconds) in second place. The training in the women's single-seater was a clear affair. Defending champion Evelin Lanthaler set clear best times in both runs. In the first training session, local hero Daniela Mittermair (+0,94) took second place, ahead of Greta Pinggera (+1,11). In the second training run, Pinggera (+0,60) secured second place, ahead of Tina Unterberger from Austria (+0,95). South Tyrolean duel in doubles In the doubles, the expected duel between the defending champions Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara and the leaders of the World Cup classification, Patrick Lambacher/Matthias Lambacher, is coming to a head. In the first training run the best time went to Pigneter/Clara, Lambacher/Lambacher set the best time in the second training run. The World Championships will open on Friday evening (19 p.m.) in the marquee.
