The Völser has been on the winner's podium so often in the past that the International Toboggan Association is probably already thinking about naming the podium “Patrick's personal living room”.

Consistency as a means of success This year's season was a tour de force in which everything initially seemed to go as usual for the Völser, as the winners' names in the first three races were always Patrick Pigneter. It was only towards the end that his dominance began to break. Jumping into his personal living room became less frequent, but he often nestled in the neighboring kitchen - or, if necessary, in the front garden. Although he was unable to celebrate any more victories in the last competitions, he stubbornly stayed at the top and won the points race thanks to second-class placings. It’s clear: “Consistency has decided this time,” the tobogganer from Völs is certain. An impressive balance sheet The eleventh overall victory in a row was perfect and represents another piece of the mosaic in the 28-year-old's exemplary curriculum vitae. In total, Pigneter was credited with 14 medals at World Championships (nine of them gold) and twelve at European Championships (seven gold) - not to mention the eight Overall World Cup victories in the doubles. Boredom? “No way” Some people will probably be wondering whether Pigneter is getting boring. “No, definitely not, sport is my great passion and at the same time my job,” said the 28-year-old, who added with a smile: “The work of an employee doesn’t get boring over time.” Nevertheless, Pigneter has to admit, that his motivation wanes a little from time to time, for example at this year's season finish - but after twelve World Cup seasons, that's okay.

There isn't much of a break Nevertheless, Pigneter is already thinking about the upcoming World Cup season and will be experimenting with the material at various national toboggan competitions in the next few weeks. After that, his season is finally over and the toboggan has to be parked in the storage room for the next few months. But the Völser doesn't want to allow himself many days off from training. “In the spring and summer I stay in shape in the gym three times a week, and I also go mountaineering and cycling,” says Pigneter, who also works part-time in his father’s company when he’s not competing. However, he feels most comfortable neither when weight-pressing nor in front of his office desk, but rather on the icy slopes of the natural tracks. With his favorite toy, the toboggan, mind you.
