Patrick Pigneter celebrates his 33rd World Cup victory in Novouralsk

Pigneter beat the Austrian Michael Scheikl (+1.58,85) and Alex Gruber from Villanders (+0,25) in 1,08:XNUMX minutes. Pigneter's double-seater partner Florian Clara achieved fifth place on the Russian natural track. Pigneter was just behind Scheikl after the first run, but turned the tables in the decision.

“Michael drove well,” Pigneter paid tribute to his competitor, “and we both knew that we both had to attack again. We both made mistakes, but I maybe did a little better on the second run.”

In the women's category, Ekatharina Lavrentjeva's winning streak continued. The local hero won the 13th World Cup race in a row ahead of Tina Unterberger from Austria and Passirian Evelyn Lanthaler, who was “not satisfied with her third place, but still happy that it ended up on the podium.” For Lanthaler it was her first podium finish in Novouralsk. “This isn’t quite my track, somehow I have respect for the walls here and that’s in the back of my mind.” But like most athletes, she’s looking forward to the parallel competition in two weeks. “This is something new and it will definitely be exciting.”

In the team competition, the “Azzurri” came second, behind the winner Russia and ahead of Austria. The World Cup will continue on January 4th and 5th in South Tyrol. A parallel competition will be held on the Seiser Alm.

Patrick Pigneter celebrates his 33rd World Cup victory in Novouralsk
