Renate Gietl defends world title
Renate Gietl successfully defended her world championship title from 2009. The 29-year-old from Feldthurn won her second World Championship gold today in Umhausen. Gietl and the Russian Ekatharina Lavrentjeva fought the usual duel with the usual close decision, in which the South Tyrolean came out on top this time: “I wasn't nervous at all. I heard Kathi's time before the start and thought 'wow, brutal', but I knew I was strong, I could do it too and thank God I was able to do it," the double world champion cheered.
