Toboggan World Championships in Deutschnofen: Pigneter's third prank
The only World Cup that will take place on South Tyrolean soil this winter is history. On the final day, in front of a thousand spectators in Deutschnofen, the local natural track sledders once again won an entire set of medals. Ekatharina Lavrentjeva and Patrick Pigneter became new world champions, with the 25-year-old from Völs winning a real thriller against the Austrian Thomas Schopf and, as in 2009 in Moos, completed a historic hat-trick of titles: gold in the team competition, gold in the doubles, gold in the singles - No other athlete has ever achieved this.
