Strong start: Visintin second in Montafon

Montafon seems to be a good place for the 24-year-old Algunder: On the Austrian slope where Omar Visintin celebrated his first World Cup victory last year, he climbed onto the podium again early on Saturday afternoon.

In step with local hero Markus Schairer, Visintin marched all the way to the grand finale on Saturday. After an exciting head-to-head race, he narrowly had to give way to the Austrian in the final round and ultimately crossed the finish line in second place. After his victory in Montafon last year and third place in Sierra Nevada in March, this was his third World Cup podium placement. Third place went to Canadian Kevin Hill.

“I let him win. All jokes aside, we were always in the same groups today and moved into the grand final in lockstep. He had a small lead at the end and made it impossible for me to pass him. I'm still happy, it's important to start the season with a good result. This gives you confidence for the coming races. The slope was completely different than last year, but it still brought me luck. Now I know where I stand and that I can do even better. The next step is to climb to the highest podium,” Visintin is quoted as saying on the website of the Italian winter sports association FISI.

Emanuel Perathoner fails in the round of 16

Meanwhile, the race didn't go as planned for Emanuel Perathoner from Laion. He gave up in the round of 44 and had to settle for XNUMXth place in the end.

At the end of the first World Cup stage for boardercrossers, a team competition will be held in Montafon on Sunday.
