A volleyball player from Bolzano is fulfilling her A1 dream

The Bolzano volleyball player Katja Eckl wins the A17 play-offs against Futura Busto Arsizio with Talmassons (2 km from Udine) and is promoted to the highest league in Italy, the Serie A1.

Less than 4.000 people live in Talmassons. But these days everyone is going crazy. The Talmassons women's volleyball club achieved something historic and won the A2 play-offs.


In the final, Busto Arsizio was defeated twice 3-0. Katja Eckl from Bolzano played outstandingly at Talmassons this season, managing more than 120 blocks.

From a sporting perspective, the almost 21-year-old middle blocker grew up at SSV Bozen and then matured as a teenager in the talent factory at San Donà in the Veneto.

Debuted in Serie A17 at 1

At the age of 17 she was even allowed to make her debut in the A1 series at Conegliano. Last year she won the silver medal with Italy's U21 team at the World Championships in Mexico.

Eckl spent the last 3 seasons in Serie A2, first two years with Martignacco and now one season with Talmassons. She wears jersey number 17 and has several offers from A1 clubs.
