Giannelli's Italy secures a place in the finals

Italy's national volleyball team also won the penultimate game in the third round of the Nations League in the Philippines and is thus moving into the finals. The “Azzurri” made short work of Slovenia and won 3-0 (25:13, 25:22, 25:17).

With a show of force in the first set, Simone Giannelli & Co. confirmed their position as favorites against the Eastern Europeans. With 25:13 they left nothing to be desired in the first round. Things got more exciting in the second set, in which Slovenia briefly pulled away to +4 (10:6). But Italy caught up and secured the second point in the end of the set (25:22).

The third set was also a close affair. Initially Italy had a two-point lead (8:6 and 9:7), but Slovenia closed the gap again. As a result, it went head-to-head until Italy pulled away from 13:13 to 16:13. Slovenia never recovered and the final set ended with a score of 25:17.

Italy thus secured its ticket to the finals in Gdansk, which will take place from July 19th to 23rd. It is not yet clear what position the “Azzurri” will occupy in the top 8. At the moment they are in 3rd place.
