Italy also starts with a win in the Philippines

After the Rotterdam stage, the Nations League in the Philippines continues with the next games. Italy, captained by Simone Giannelli from Bolzano, started off with a win against Brazil on Tuesday morning.

The “Azzurri” beat the Brazilians 3-1. Giannelli & Co. turned the game against the South Americans. Brazil took the first set and turned it on in the end, scoring 25:23.

But Italy was unimpressed. Coach Fefè De Giorgi's team responded with a very strong second round and won the set 25:20. Immediately afterwards it became even clearer when the Italians, led by top scorer Yuri Romanò (20 points in the entire game), made short work of it and were now on the verge of victory with a score of 25:15.

The “Azzurri” didn’t let anything go wrong in the last set either, even if Brazil tried to stand up to them this time. But the Italians were too strong and Lavia closed the bag with the second match point at 24:21. Italy now continues against Slovenia on Thursday, July 6th (9 a.m.). With 18 points, they are now well on their way to finishing in the top 8 and securing a ticket to the Nations League final in Gdansk (July 19th to 23rd).
