Nations League: Italy with Giannelli in the semi-finals

On Wednesday the game between Italy and Argentina was scheduled in the Volleyball Nations League. Thanks also to captain Simone Giannelli, the Azzurri advanced to the semi-finals.

Italy had surprisingly little trouble in the quarter-final duel with Argentina in Gdansk (POL). Sure, Giannelli & Co. swept the South Americans off the floor 3-0. The results in the individual sets were 25:17, 25:13 and 25:14 – a clear matter. Giannelli himself scored 4 points, which is not his core competence. Alessandro Michieletto (he plays for Trento) scored the most points (15).

With promotion to the round of the last four teams, Italy still has all the trump cards. The Azzurri will face the USA in the semi-finals of the Nations League on Saturday. The Americans defeated France 3-2 in the quarterfinals.
