Paolo Florio re-elected as FIPAV President

The previous president, Paolo Florio, was re-elected in the elections. There are two confirmations and two new additions to the board members. Lino Cescatti and Carlo Spagnuolo have been confirmed, while Gerti Fink and Heinrich Napolitano are the two new committee members.

Fink ended her career as a player this year and began a career as an official - not only in her club, but also at the state level. Gerti Fink has been the coach of the women's beach volleyball team for the past four years.

Heinrich Napolitano was also already working for the state committee. The trainer has served as the trainer sector coordinator for the past four years.

22 of the 28 clubs were present in the elections, accounting for 82 percent of the votes. Re-elected President Paolo Florio, who was unanimously confirmed, can point to a very positive result.

“Even if there is only one candidate, it is not a given that you will get all the votes. There are always people who don't vote for you out of protest or because they don't agree with the program. That's why I'm even more pleased with this result and I'd like to thank all the clubs for their trust. For me it is a sign that we form a unit. I have observed that there has been better cooperation between the clubs in recent years. This is the only way we can grow – be it in terms of the number of members or in terms of quality,” said Florio.

The new committee has set itself the goal of making the sport of volleyball even better known in South Tyrol and, above all, of inspiring young men for this sport. “Compared to last year, we have almost 200 more reports this year. There are a total of 1900 players in South Tyrol. We have three new clubs, Bozen, Neumarkt and Riffian, one club has dissolved. Our concern is that volleyball is played more in schools. This requires technical resources and volunteers who are committed to this sport. “Unfortunately, compared to other sports, we are a little behind here,” Florio concluded.
