The Beach Cup season has started

But in the end, routine triumphed over youthful lightness. In the men's category, local heroes Alexander Somvi and Kevin Huber prevailed against the young team Lukas Ellemunt and Jakob Windisch from Vipiteno after they clearly won the game in the preliminary round. With good serves, lots of break points and support from the home crowd, the two experienced Dorf Tyroleans were able to put the young people from Sterzing under pressure from the start in the final. Ellemunt/Windisch barely found their way into the game and the reigning national beach volleyball champions Somvi/Huber clearly won 2-0 (21:14, 21:17). This gave them the first 100 points for the overall ranking.

The women's final showed a similar picture: the two experienced players Roberta Camarda and Pamela Guglielmetti, who already have several victories in the Raiffeisen Beach Cup, faced the young team Emma Kudoglu and Francesca Michieletto from Trento. And here too, routine prevailed in a hard-fought game and Camarda/Guglielmetti won 2-0 (21:15, 21:15).

The games for third place were in South Tyrolean hands for both men and women. In the men's event, the veterans from the Passeier Valley Filip Götsch and Markus Pixner won 2-0 (15:9, 17:15) against the runner-up national champions Markus Gröber and Martin Kargruber. Aurora Bazzanella and Chiara Pedrotti emerged 2-0 (15:9, 15:7) as winners of the game against Verena Ganthaler and Sabine Botzner.

Already on Saturday, 36 boys' and girls' teams fought in three categories each for the victories of the first youth stage. The spectators were treated to exciting rallies, a lot of commitment and ambitious games. In the end, all three boys' categories went to SSV Bruneck, while the girls' players from Bolzano celebrated.

The Beach Cup season has started

The beginning has been made: the first open stage of the Raiffeisen Beach Cup 2016 was held in Dorf Tirol. For the first time, more women's teams than men's teams were registered, including many junior teams, some of whom worked their way to the final.
