On Saturday, Schaller had to settle for 25th place and 11th place in the second qualifying for the national team. “Things didn’t go particularly well on Saturday due to a 2-second penalty for missing a goal. Unfortunately I didn't get into the race that day. I am very proud of the second qualifying day. I didn't expect to make it to the final or to come third in the qualifying. Now I hope to be able to follow up on that at the 50th and final qualifying this weekend in Ivrea (Piedmont),” said Carolin Schaller after her successful race weekend in Tacen. Her club colleague Tamara Drescher (2) took 3th place in the women's kayak single sculls at the ICF Ranking Canoe Slalom in Tacen. She came fifth twice in the U4 qualifying: “As always, we had an exciting race weekend in Tacen. We were able to tackle difficult runs and try out tricky lines. Unfortunately, a line error in the semi-final cost me a place in the final. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with my performance in Tacen. A canoeist from SC Meran/Raika-Torggler also celebrated a great success on Sunday at the qualification for the Italian national team in the whitewater regatta. Martin Unterthurner, who completed his civil engineering degree at Graz University of Technology on April 17, 2023, paddled to 3rd place in the men's single kayak in the regatta in Valstagna on the Brenta on Sunday. The man from Merano only had to give way to the two world-class paddlers, Andrea Bernardi and Giacomo Abbiati. A day earlier, Unterthurner had taken 11th and 8th place in the qualifying runs in the whitewater sprint on the Brenta. I was able to accelerate properly. My 3rd place showed that we are on the right track with our training. It is now important to make good use of the time until June in order to be able to compete at the front in the classic regatta at the “King of the Alps” and the Italian Championship,” said Martin Unterthurner happily.
