Italian championship title firmly in South Tyrolean hands

After the title in the general class (SSV Bozen), South Tyrol has another Italian team champion in badminton. ASV Badminton Überetsch won the first U17 team championship in Milan last weekend. After the dramatic 3-2 final victory over BC Junior Milano, the people of Überetscher were extremely happy.

22:30, 20:22, 21:19: Sofia Galimberti and Tobias Andergassen kept their nerve in the decisive mixed doubles. It was the point that made it 3-2 in the final of the U17 Italian Championship against Junior BC Milano. The Überetscher had an 18:12 lead in the second set

Young hopes already had one hand on the trophy before Milan fought back and the decision was made in the third set. The other two points were scored by Anna Hell in singles and Hell/Galimberti in doubles. In the preliminary round, the Überetscher clearly won 5-0 against Mals, Chiari (Lombardy) and Alba (Piedmont), and in the semi-final against Modena 3-0.

The Badminton Überetsch team included Anna Hell, Sofia Galimberti, Melanie Streiter, Lena Malleier, Ruben Fellin, Tobias Andergassen and Manuel Pircher. Erika Stich and Csaba Hamza were there as coaches. President Gerhard Spitaler was happy about the first team Italian championship title in the club's history. “All players are also part of the SBS - Südtirol Badminton School. This cross-club talent promotion, which we have been involved in for years, is now bearing fruit.”
