Val di Sole: Widmann and Seiwald in action

The mountain bike world cup circus is currently taking place in Val di Sole in Trentino. This Friday the downhill qualification and the short track race with South Tyrolean participation took place.

The North Tyrolean mountain biker Laura Stigger won the World Cup short track race in Val di Sole. The 22-year-old beat the Dutchwoman Puck Pieterse (+1 second) in the finish on Friday and thus achieved her second success in the short track. Pauline Ferrand Prevot came third (+6 seconds). The South Tyrolean Greta Seiwald landed in position 22 (+ 41 seconds). On Sunday at 13.00 p.m. the 26-year-old will have her next chance to experience success in the cross-country race.


Earlier in the afternoon, Veronika Widmann successfully qualified for the semi-finals of the downhill race. Of the 33 drivers, the South Tyrolean crossed the finish line in 4.28,610:16 minutes, the eleventh best time (30 qualified for the next round). The 17,279-year-old was 10.45 seconds behind the fastest driver in qualifying, Camille Balanche from Switzerland. The semi-finals take place on Saturday at 5 a.m., Widmann starts the race with start number XNUMX.
