After a decade: Milan wins at home against Napoli

After years of waiting, Milan prevailed again at home against Napoli. The undisputed man of the game was Theo Hernandez.

Thanks to the 1-0 home win over Napoli, Milan won a Serie A game at San Siro against the southern Italians for the first time in 10 years. The Milanese team has now been unbeaten for nine games and secured third place in the table. For Napoli, however, the defeat means a setback in the fight for the Champions League places.

In the first half, the 75.000 fans in the sold-out San Siro were treated to a long, lean football diet. In the eleventh minute of the game, Giovanni Simeone narrowly missed the visitors' lead with a shot from the penalty area. On the other side, Milan took the lead with their first real chance to score: Rafael Leao played a wonderful hole pass to the outstanding Theo Hernandez, who coolly converted in front of keeper Pierluigi Gollini.

In the second half of the game, both teams exchanged blows with numerous chances on both sides. The reigning champions came close to equalizing, especially in the final minutes of the game. Shortly before the end of the game, Milan defender Jan-Carlo Simic directed a cross onto the post.

Goals, goals and more goals

Previously, Fiorentina dispatched Frosinone with a 5-1 win. The Tuscans made things clear in the first half of the game thanks to a 3-0 lead. New purchase Andrea Belotti was able to celebrate his first goal in the Viola jersey. Bologna also celebrated a 4-0 win at home against Lecce. The outstanding player on the field was double goalscorer Riccardo Orsolini.
