Kane and the goal record: Bayern wants to help the goalscorer

Harry Kane currently has an incredible 33 goals in 30 games. With a goal on today's matchday against Frankfurt he would come close to Robert Lewandowski's goal record. He can count on the support of his team.

A new goal would bring Bayern star Harry Kane one step closer to Robert Lewandowski's record. The captain of England's national soccer team scored against 15 of the 17 opponents this Bundesliga season. He only came away empty-handed against SC Freiburg (twice) and in the 1:5 debacle against Frankfurter Eintracht.

A goal debut for the 30-year-old in this Saturday's home game against the Hessians, who are fighting for their place in international business, would mean goal number 34 in this furious debut season. 33 goals this season in the Bundesliga is the third-best figure in history after 30 match days. Former Munich striker Robert Lewandowski's 41-goal record from the 2020/21 season is well away, but still within reach.

Bayern want to help Kane set a record

The Munich team wants to help Kane on his way to the record. He wants to shoot Bayern – and above all himself – to a title. “His goal record is outstanding. His goals help us a lot. He has the complete package: he not only scores goals, he also sets up and is a leader,” said coach Thomas Tuchel. "We are very happy. He is the captain of the England national team, we are glad he is here.”

While Kane is expected to continue scoring goals for FC Bayern until the summer of 2027, Tuchel's term will be over in a maximum of seven games. An online petition entitled “We want Juppel (Thomas Tuchel) and no Rangnick!” doesn’t change that.

Tuchel’s appeal – also with a petition

“Even if the topic in this case is a pleasant topic for me and people want me to stay there, it is still a topic that has no priority and should not have,” said Tuchel. “The next eleven days can now be about nothing other than football and nothing other than the goal that we can all achieve.”

This is above all the Champions League final on June 1st in London. To do this, the Munich team must overcome the giant hurdle of Real Madrid in the semi-finals on Tuesday at home and eight days later in Spain. “We are now in full focus and in a mode where every day counts,” said Tuchel.
