Pustertal and Ritten are weak in the second half of the season, Broncos are on the rise

Fiat Professional Wolves HC Pustertal is currently in second place in the table behind Asiago, but the Wolves haven't really picked up speed yet. The team, led by the new management team Busniuk-Hicks, has had to struggle with several ups and downs so far this season. A large part of the blame for this lies in the bad luck with injuries, which continues to have the Bruneck team firmly in its grip. In addition to McLeod's serious injury (will not play again until 2014) and Aubin's lengthy recovery phase, the absences of Oberrauch, Tauber and Alex Obermair are also significant. The Wolves started the season so well with five wins in a row. After leading the table with 18 points at the end of the first half of the season, Pustertal noticeably lost ground in the second half of the season (13 points). Nevertheless, the HCP has the best power play game with a success rate of 21,52 percent. With 61 goals and 48 goals conceded, Helfer and Co. represent the second best offense and the third strongest defense in the league. The first strike line made a convincing impression with top scorer Giulio Scandella (13 goals, 19 assist) and the Swedish newcomer Christian Söderström (9 goals, 18 assist).

Rather, it's the offensive department that hasn't really found the thread yet. The trio Nelson-Johansson-Siddall is suffering from fluctuations in form, Tudin is below expectations and other players, such as Ansoldi and Daccordo, have not yet reached their performance limits. So far, the appearance in the majority game has been hair-raising. Ritten takes last place there with a yield of 13,24 percent. These weaknesses need to be overcome as quickly as possible in order to be prepared for the first big highlight of this season. At the end of November, the Ritten players want to lift the Italian Cup in their home ice stadium.

WSV Vipiteno Weihenstephan In the last two encounters, the Broncos conceded no fewer than eleven goals and therefore failed to win a point. However, this cannot disguise the consistently positive interim conclusion after the Serie A return. After initial difficulties with only seven points from as many games, coach Travnicek's boys steadily improved and caused a stir, especially with two wins against the reigning champions from Asiago.
