Death at the age of 34: Switzerland mourns the marathon ace

The Swiss athletics scene is shaken by tragic news: a top athlete has died at the age of 34.

Adrian Lehmann was actually supposed to complete the marathon in Zurich on Sunday. But a tragic accident took the 34-year-old's life: Last Thursday, Lehmann suffered a heart attack during training. Now the sad certainty: the exceptional runner did not survive the fight and died on Saturday evening.


This was announced by the Swiss Athletics Association. “We are incredibly sad and dismayed by this news. We express our deepest condolences to Ädu’s family and all of his friends and wish him a lot of strength during this difficult time,” says Christoph Seiler, President of Swiss Athletics.

Switzerland is losing one of the country's best marathon runners. A year ago, Lehmann set his personal record at the Zurich Marathon when he completed the route in 2.11,44:XNUMX hours. His big goal was the Olympic Games in Paris.
